11 BEAUTY ESSENTIALS I’M BRINGING TO THE BEACH

It’s the most wonderful time of year. Just as soon as Christmas wraps up, I’m headed to the Bahamas for our annual trip to Harbour Island. I seriously couldn’t be more excited. In an effort to avoid my usual packing procrastination (happens every. single. time.), I’m getting my suitcase organized ahead of time, starting with my beauty bag. The beach requires very little when it comes to beauty items (going for that au naturale look), but there are certain things like my favorite post-sun moisturizer and the perfect coral lipgloss that I simply won’t leave home without.

Here, 11 beauty essentials that are headed to Harbour Island with me…

1. ELTA MD CLEAR SPF 46

First and foremost: sunscreen. This is my all-time favorite for my face. It’s incredibly light but provides serious coverage from the UV rays. The best part is that it never causes breakouts. It’s ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

2. EMBROYOLISSE LAIT CRÈME CONCENTRATE

I have sensitive skin and there’s something about the sun/sand/heat that seems to make it worse. I try to be extra careful about the products I use on my skin while I’m there, making sure they’re as simple and clean as possible. This is my go-to moisturizer. It’s a no-frills cream that provides moisture without feeling the slightest bit heavy. My skin soaks this stuff right up.

3. CHANEL “LES BEIGES” COLOR STICK in No. 21

Rather than bring my usual powder blush, I opt for this creamy stick instead. It’s easy to pack and delivers the perfect punch sun-kissed color to my cheeks. Bonus: it works as a lip tint, too.

4. LAURA MERCIER “RADIANCE” FOUNDATION PRIMER

My makeup is minimal but I always apply this primer before heading out for the night. Not only does it make my skin look smooth, but it has just enough of a glimmer to give my face that beachy glow. Word to the wise: grab a travel-size tube.

5. AQUAPHOR

I don’t leave the house without it. It’s my saving grace. I use it as a lip balm, moisturizer, and skin-soother. (Cut yourself shaving? Sunburn? Apply a dab of this.) I also use it on my eyelids and over my blush for a little extra glow.

6. NARS “HONOLULU HONEY” LIPSTICK

I can use this during the day and night. A nude-peach blend with just a touch of shimmer, it’s the perfect vacation lipstick.

7. YSL “PECHE CERRA-COLA” GLOSSY STAIN

When I’m in the mood for something bright, this is my go-to. It’s the ultimate beachy-peachy coral and it stays on all. night. long.

8. MILA MOURSI BODY OIL

I only recently became acquainted with Mila Mouri’s products but I’ve already deemed her body oil a must-have. It has totally transformed my dry skin of late. I apply it right after I get out of the shower. It seals in moisture and leaves behind a sheen – exactly what I need at the beach.

9. BYREDO BAL D’AFRIQUE ROLL-ON PERFUME

Unless you’ve hoarded the samples, travel-size perfumes are hard to come by. That’s why this roll-on tube is genius. It’s the perfect size for packing and the roll-on vial means there’s no chance of leakage. (Side note: All of Byredo’s scents are amazing. This one just happens to be my current favorite.)

10. PHILIP KINGSLEY SWIMCAP CREAM

The combination of salt water and sun can wreak havoc on my hair. This cream is a savior. With UV protection, it moisturizes and keeps my blonde locks from fading.

11. ORIBE APRÈS BEACH WAVE AND SHINE SPRAY

The blow drier has no place in my suitcase. I let my hair air-dry after a couple of spritzes of this. It’s the very best for that beachy, wavy texture.
